My first big run and High Intensity training session

This week I have completed my first running training sessions out of the gym. I did a 6.14 mile run up Manchester road, around clowbridge reservoir and back down Manchester road. Nothing too complex, just a slight incline then downhill on the way back. Surprisingly it wasn't difficult considering the distance, a hard start but once I had set the pace it was smooth running all the way!
I also did a high intensity training session (or HIT). HIT is a great way to improve because it targets my cardiovascular capacity; increasing your anaerobic capacity and therefore making me faster. I did 30 seconds of steady pace with 30 seconds of sprinting for 10 minutes. Then increased the intensity by sprinting up hill and steady pace downhill on a 10 minute cycle. Then I cooled down with a jog home. Nothing close to 6 miles but much harder because it’s keeping my body guessing.
